Difference between a Volunteer and Chaperone

Volunteers

Volunteers are essential for making our Kenton show run smoothly.  We don't need any previous experience and there is very little paperwork involved.  We simply ask parents to watch one show and help backstage at the other.

Being backstage is a fantastic experience – it's a great way to feel part of the show and to see our dancers flourish. We hope this encourages both new and returning parent helpers to get involved and support our events.

If you'd like to volunteer, please contact Leanne at admin@performanze.co.uk and let her know which show you are available to help with. If you already have a DBS certificate, we'll ask to see a copy. If not, we'd like to arrange a free volunteer DBS check for you, which is a simple process requiring some identification and a few details from you.

Chaperones

Licensed Chaperones have additional responsibilities for the welfare and supervision of children backstage. We are required to have a specific number of Licensed Chaperones at Kenton and they are also needed for our London shows.

Becoming a Chaperone does involve a little more paperwork and training, but it is an incredibly rewarding role. A Chaperone Licence can also be used to volunteer with children in theatre, television and film productions should that be of interest to you.

If you would like to become a Licensed Chaperone and live in Oxfordshire, you can find details of the application process here:  OCC Chaperone Licence
